HERZOG has recently delivered a fully automatic laboratory system for the largest steel project in Vietnam. The HERZOG fully automatic airtube system and laboratory will support the first phase of the new Formosa steel complex being constructed some 400 kilometers south-east of Hanoi in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, Hà Thĩn province in central Vietnam. The complex, spanning 3,300 hectares will house four steel furnaces with a combined output of over 15 million tons a year, a 1,600 megawatt thermal power station and the Son Duong deep-water port with an annual throughput of 30 million tons.

In the first phase, the HERZOG laboratory has been designed for a throughput of 1250 steel and slag samples per day. The HERZOG system prepares various steel and iron sample shapes for OES and XRF analysis. Furthermore, it fully automatically produces and forwards chips and punch pieces for CNS analysis. In a second extension phase, more than 2,000 samples per day will be prepared.
