1950s

1959: Establishment of Herzog Maschinenfabrik by Hans Gottfried Herzog
Production of cutting and grinding machines for metallic samples, later also sample preparation systems for powder samples

1960s

Numerous innovative new developments
e.g. HERZOG sample milling machine HFS 120-2 for processing spectral samples and manual belt grinder HNB 1500

1970s

Development of the semi-automatic HERZOG HSM-F pulverizer for the batchwise comminution of granular sample material
Development of the fully automatic sample milling machine HMF for processing spectral samples of non-ferrous metals

1980s

Expansion of the HERZOG design department
Introduction of the first CAD systems
Development of semi-automatic and fully automatic units for the fusion of oxide samples

1990s

Further development of modular design concepts for the seamless integration of different automatic components such as crushers, splitters, mills, and presses
Routine use of programmable logic controllers - for more powerful and flexible automation concepts

2000s

Increasing use of robots for the automation of laboratories for quality control and assurance
Development and further development of the HERZOG PrepMaster software for automation control
Development of new machines with a focus on their integrability in robot automation systems
